Diffraction Grating

From UO Physics Demonstration Catalog

Return to Diffraction and Interference

Description:

Various diffraction gratings are available, Laser light can display the diffraction pattern, Shining a green and red laser through he grating at the same time displays the dependence of wavelength in the pattern. Shine a line source white light though the grating and you will see the color spectrum in the diffraction pattern.

Also available are individual gratings you can pass out to the class and they can personally observe the spectrum for various sources of light. They would also be able to observe the transmission spectra from various gas spectra tubes,

Location:

  • Large and small Gratings Drawer 96
  • Hand held gratings to pass out: Shelf L-3
  • Laser Pointers: Red Tool Cabinet
