Description:
The Peltier Apparatus, a solid state device also known as a frigidster, gets hot on one side and cool on the other when a current is run through it. The Peltier Apparatus is used to cool down a small sample of water placed in a test tube. A thermometer is submerged in the water. Power is applied and the temperature decreases. The temperature will dip below 0 degrees Celcius to -4 or -5 degrees, displaying supercooled water. If the test tube is tapped the water freezes and the temperature jumps back to 0 degrees. It remains there until all the water is frozen and will then begin to decrease again. Entire process coult take 20-30 minutes. The temperature sensor can be connected to a computer which can put the data in real time.
