Description:

LED Mixing: Ping Pong Balls

4 ping pong balls are mounted and each ping pong ball has a colored LED inside, Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, The brightness of each LED is variable. Mixing colors is done by turning on various colors and adjusting the brightness the brightness, White can made by turning on all three LEDS and adjusting the brightness.

The color Yellow can be made by mixing red and green and compare it to the Yellow LED. Using a Green Filter and a Red Filter you can see the Red and Green LEDs. Put the Green and Red Filters in front of the Yellow LED and you will see no Red and Green form the Yellow LED. This is a good demo for demonstrating color vision. Adding Red and Green can trick your eye to see yellow. The Yello LED stumulates the Red and Green cones in your eye, even though there is no red and green. This is because the cones have a wide bandwidth that peak at Green and Red, but they both actually both get stimulated by the color yellow.
