Return to Sound

Description:

Great demonstration for resonance. A wine glass is setup in an enclosure. The resonant frequency of the glass is first found by placing a Ping-Pong ball in the glass and adjusting the signal generator to find the frequency that causes the most energetic vibration of the Ping-Pong ball. The ping pong ball in then removed and the glass is then set in front of the horn driver. Loud pulse of sound will cause the glass to break. A continuos loud sound can burn uo the voice coil so send pulses of sound.

Location:

  • Enclosure with Horn Driver and power amplifier on cart by Black Cabinet.
  • Signal Generator Shelf C-2
  • Ping-Pong Ball Dr. 8
