Return to Electric Fields and Potential

Cone and Plate Conductor.gif

Description:

Place a charge on the cone or a high voltage between the cone and plate (which are separated by an insulator). Measure the field at various points with Faraday Cage, Electrometer and two metal Proof Planes. Hold the two proof planes so the flat sides are in full contact with each other and hold then in a space between the Cone and Plate and the separate the two planes. Electrostatic induction from the Electric Field will separate the charges and one proof plane will be + and the other proof plane will be - .
