An audio feedback loop is setup between a speaker, a microphone utilizing a large beaker. Move the microphone towards the beaker from various directions, The mode of oscillation is determined by the size of the container, and to some degree, the orientation of the microphone. To get the lower order modes it is best to hold the microphone with the element horizontal or slightly up. It also helps to hold the container from 3 to 6 inches above the speaker.
