Electric Deflec of Electron.gif

Description:

The beam from an electron gun can be deflected by the field of two parallel plates. The beam is intercepted by an angled phosphorous coated screen (with grid) which glows to show the path of the beam.

  • Beam can be deflected with a bar magnet displaying the Right Hand Rule. Beam can also be deflected with Helmholtz Coils.
  • Beam can be deflected by an Electric Field by connecting the deflection pates in parallel with the High Voltage accelerating potential supply, or by connecting a second High Voltage.
  • Photos show setup and note connections from power supplies,
